Perspectives in Canberra - Report from 2009....

Perspectives is alive and well in the nation’s capital! Perspectives courses conducted in Canberra over recent years have touched many hearts and transformed lives. Starting with the course conducted by Jonathan Geddes back in 2005, the momentum has been maintained under the enthusiastic leadership of Steven Mogg – one of the 25 or so students that embarked on that journey in 2005.

Each course since has been special in its own way, but a common source of encouragement has been the participation from several churches and denominations across Canberra and the way that the courses have attracted and challenged Christians from all ages and a range of backgrounds.

The most recent course, which concluded with a graduation dinner on Tuesday 16 June 2009, was particularly special.

Are you getting ready for this year's Perspectives? Message from Rick

G’day Perspectives helpers

This year’s Perspectives course(s) commencing on Tuesday 2 March will use the new Reader and new Study Guides. Warwick Coghlan has kindly offered drive down to Canberra and run a facilitator’s training session to familiarise us with the changes to the course. He will also provide new PowerPoints and DVDs. It will be an evening session from 7.00pm till 10.00pm at the Wade’s place. We’ve flagged two possible dates next week – either Monday 8 February or Wednesday 10 February.

If you have already volunteered to assist with this year’s courses, or are available to help at either at the upcoming course or at some time in the future, I encourage you to attend this training session.

  1. I would encourage anyone who is wanting to serve our Lord...and that should be all of us...to do the Perspectives Course...

I spent 30 years serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea. Two full knee replacements forced me to return to Australia where I took up the role of representative for Wycliffe Australia in Canberra. To help me in that role I decided to do Perspectives as I felt that I should know what it was all about so that I could give intelligent answers to people! However, I came away blessed myself...through Perspectives the Lord showed me that just because I had left Papua New Guinea that did not mean that I was no longer a missionary! It was a blessing that continues to have a real impact on my daily life and ministry!

You too will be blessed if you do Perspectives!
