Only few more days before we start. It starts next Tuesday 2 March 10 at Mission Alliance City Campus, East Row in Canberra. Dinner is at 6PM for $5.00or arrive before 7PM for the course . Get there in time to complete enrolement. get your books and pay any outstanding fee's.

My second assignment was to Nepal. God had put Nepal on my heart towards the mid of 2008. I have some Nepali friends. So I prayed about it and what I would be doing if I went to Nepal. I came to realise that I have many skills that would be of use. I knew that God has given me a mission's heart. Pespectives gave me some more insight to understanding culture, world views and differing beliefs and values. Being able to share the knowledge of Jesus Christ with others and realising that that information is not mine to keep. Just as it was given freely to me..I am expected to give it freely to others. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world yet it has some of the most enriched cultures. I was blessed to be able to live with a few Nepali families from the middle class through to the poor. Nepalis are also an unreached people group. Will I go back to Nepal...I think very much so..There is much to do but in saying that God has me here to finalise what needs to be finalised before I am able to return.Here in Canberra I am part of Table Talk which meets mostly with Uni / CIT Students from ethnic countries studying in Canberra wanting to improve their English skills. It is a great way to meet a diverse group of young people and at the same time they learn english conversation, we are blessed by being enriched in their culture.If I had not untaken the course I may have missed the opportunity and experiences that God is putting in front of me on a daily basis...the challenges, the diversity, and more so working with God on His plan for His World.Love and hugsAnji

1st step. Before I undertook the Mission Perspectives Course I thought it was all about missions. I was so wrong...I very quickly came to realise it had nothing to do with missions the way I saw it but all to do with God's plan for the world and how we could become part of that plan. I learnt that our God loves me unconditionally and as much as He loves His own Son. Wow what an amazing realisation and one to this day that I am having difficulty grapplingNow having completed both the Standard and Advance Course I have found myself becoming involved in two overseas short term assignments and also locally. My first assignment was to Thailand and wow I thought I would go over as I had so much to give the community. I was so wrong...it was not just about what I could give...I was given so much in return. Yes I worked with the children, undertook English classes with the adults in the slum of Sumat Prukan, prayed, took part in the ministry that involves spending time with prostitutes, made new friends. I became so aware that God is so very interested in His people and the relationships we form with them. Jesus was the example He set for us to follow.

We have a location confirmed at the Alliance Church Civic Campus, 35 East Row Civic .
There is still room for more, we have some students but can accommodate more.
So if you are thinking about doing the course please let us know. Please ask anybody you think might want to do the course.
We would also really like to run the Advanced course so if you are interested in this please get in touch so we can finalise the Advanced course.

How does a disciple know God’s will? How about getting to know what God has “willed” to do? And has done? Or will do? “Perspectives on the World Christian Movement” addresses these issues and is a course about God - what He has done, what He is doing, and what still remains to be done. The purpose of the course is not to transform every person doing it into a missionary. We do seek, however, to challenge every Christian to become strategic as well as obedient in participating with the Living God in His mission.

Many of us do not know what to do with our lives. We are somehow bewildered about God’s will. We struggle in making life decisions, unfamiliar with criteria other than our own self-interest. We grope for meaning in the daily hum drum, having no larger context than our own diary. We want to serve in a cause, but we have no agenda, only dozens of disconnected opportunities and priorities.

G’day Perspectives helpers

This year’s Perspectives course(s) commencing on Tuesday 2 March will use the new Reader and new Study Guides. Warwick Coghlan has kindly offered drive down to Canberra and run a facilitator’s training session to familiarise us with the changes to the course. He will also provide new PowerPoints and DVDs. It will be an evening session from 7.00pm till 10.00pm at the Wade’s place. We’ve flagged two possible dates next week – either Monday 8 February or Wednesday 10 February.

If you have already volunteered to assist with this year’s courses, or are available to help at either at the upcoming course or at some time in the future, I encourage you to attend this training session.

2010 Advanced Perspectives Course

We ran the Advanced course inthe first half of 2009. It was a fantastic course with 12 dedicated students. We will run another Advanced course when we have at least 8 students equally dedicated to the challenge. So if you are interested please let as know as soon as possible.

At least one Standard Perspectives Course will be running inthe first half of 2010. If enough people want to do it we can run two courses. The Advanced course will run if we can get at least 8 Students enrolled.

PERSPECTIVES ON THE WORLD CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT

Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a life-changing two-part course designed to give Christians a unique opportunity to investigate the work of God around the world, through history and to consider their role in His purposes.
Developed by Dr Ralph Winter, Steve Hawthorne and other staff of the U.S. Centre for World Mission in Pasadena, California, Perspectives surveys background, development and potential of Christianity as an international social movement. It does so in four main sections:

Biblical: God's unchanging purposes for the nations
Historical: The expansion of the Christian movement
Cultural: Communicating the gospel cross-culturally
Strategic: Means for completing the Great Commission

The purpose of the Perspectives course is to help participants develop a clearer perspective of God's global mission in the world so as to enable them to make informed decisions about their strategic participation with Him in this. The course is intended to confront participants with the personal challenge of how they can contribute to fulfilling the Great Commission.

"The on-going work of evangelising the world, especially the unreached people groups where there are presently no churches or witnesses, is a primary responsibility of Christians everywhere. There is no other course of which I know that will inform, inspire and motivate Christians for world evangelisation......it will stretch your mind, warm your heart and stir your will" (Dr Billy Graham.)
